This brand new Rogue One trailer puts the war in Star Wars

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tells the tale of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. The film takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.

A brand-new trailer for hotly anticipated Star Wars spin-off Rogue One is here, and it’s whetting our appetites even more for the film’s release this December.

Felicity Jones (Inferno, The Theory of Everything) leads the cast as Jyn Erso alongside Mads Mikklesen who plays her father, Galen Erso. Diego Luna (Milk) stars as Captain Cassian Andor with Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Blade II) as the blind spiritual warrior Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly, Devils on the Doorstep) as his heavily armored best friend Baze Malbus,, Alan Tudyk (Firefly) as the droid K-2SO, Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler, Four Lions) as the Rebel pilot Bodhi Rook, plus Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) as Saw Gerrera, a character first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline, Mississippi Grind) as the film’s main antagonist, Director Orson Krennic.

Will Jyn (Felicity Jones) and her team escape the clutches of the Empire with the Death Star plans, or will Darth Vader flex his power to stop them? Luckily, we haven’t got too long until we find out…

Directed by Gareth Edwards Rogue One: a Star Wars Story will be released in UK cinemas on the 16th December.
