BBC Radio 1 has announced its Teen Awards line-up.
DJ Nick Grimshaw revealed live on his Breakfast Show this morning (04.09.14) that The Vamps, 5 Seconds of Summer, Ariana Grande and Rixton will all perform at the annual ceremony which acknowledges the UK’s unknown teen heroes as well as the year’s music, online, sport and entertainment stars.
The awards – which will be held at London’s SSE Arena in Wembley, on September 19 – will also feature performances by ‘X Factor’ alumni Ella Henderson and Labrinth, with an expected audience of over 9,000 14-17 year olds.
The Vamps – who were live in the studio as the announcement was made – said: ”We’re so excited to play at Radio 1’s Teen Awards in October! We presented an award there last year (and James FINALLY met Taylor Swift!) so to be back performing this time is amazing! The crowd were so loud and there are some awesome inspirational teenagers that get awards too – not just celebs! See you there!”
Nick, 30 – who will present the ceremony next month – also revealed that Rita Ora will be joining him to co-host the awards.
She said: ”I can’t wait to get involved and join my friend Grimmy on stage to co-host the Radio 1 Teen Awards – yes, we’re going to make some noise!”
Tickets for Radio 1’s Teen Awards will be available to 14-17 year olds from 6:30pm on Wednesday 1st October.
Greg James and Alice Levine will also bring Radio 1 listeners all the fun from the awards, broadcasting live on-air from 1pm-5:15pm.
