Following the news that Kylie Minogue will return to Hyde Park to headline Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park on 21 June, a fresh addition to the already-sizzling hot line up has been announced.
Taking place one week before Pride in London, this is the biggest pre-party to get you in the mood for the capital’s colourful annual LGBT+ celebration.
Pop sensation MIKA will join Kylie, the legendary Chic (featuring Nile Rodgers) and the incomparable Grace Jones at Hyde Park. The multi platinum-selling singer songwriter behind infectious hits like 2007’s chart-topper ‘Grace Kelly’, ‘Love Today’ and ‘Celebrate’ (featuring Pharrell Williams) will get the crowd going on the longest day of the year. The Lebanese-British singer is back with his new album No Place in Heaven out on 15 June with two new tracks available now; ‘Talk About You’ and ‘Last Party’, the latter of which has a short film shot by world celebrated fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh.
Also here to take the Sunday afternoon party to another level is Years & Years, The British electropop trio recently scored their first UK #1 hit with ‘King’ and are set to light up the charts with their debut album Communion, which is out on 22 June. Years & Years shot to prominence in 2014 featuring on The Magician’s UK Top 10 hit ‘Sunlight’, won the prestigious BBC Sound of 2015, and followed up with their own UK Top 20 single ‘Desire’.
Young hitmaker Foxes is also confirmed to support Kylie on the 21st. The English singer-songwriter is best known for her Grammy Award-winning collaboration with Zedd on his 2013 hit ‘Clarity’. Last year Foxes released her debut album Glorious, which rocketed into the Top 5, sparking big Top 20 singles like ‘Let Go For Tonight’. Foxes is currently working on her second studio album and has recorded a track on the legendary Giorgio Moroder’s forthcoming album 74 is the New 24.
90s club revival evangelists, Ekkah, and Welsh electropop prince, Bright Light Bright Light, will make their Hyde Park debut on the Great Oak Stage. Ekkah is a Birmingham-bred duo making waves with their new EP Last Chance to Dance. They have been featured in The Guardian’s Sound of 2015 list and have toured with Jess Glynne, Rae Morris and Nimmo.
Bright Light Bright Light will bring his brand of anthemic dance pop to the festival after playing critically acclaimed shows in North America and around the UK. The independent singer-songwriter, born Rod Thomas, released his second album Life is Easy in 2014, featuring the duet with Sir Elton John ‘I Wish We Were Leaving’. In December, Rod released ‘Everything I Ever Wanted’ on World AIDS Day, with the single’s proceeds going to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
It wouldn’t be a proper pre-Pride party without two super-festive stages whipping the crowd into a frenzy. Sunday Best – one of London’s most cutting-edge independent record labels – is celebrating its 20-year anniversary this year and what better way to do it than with a spectacular takeover of The Summer Stage at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park?
The Summer Stage will feature influential BBC Radio 1 DJ and Sunday Best founder, Rob Da Bank, and friends who are sure to treat audiences to only the finest ‘new, now and next’ in underground dance music. Scottish electro-house producer Mylo will take over the decks with a killer DJ set. Mylo is best known for his club hits ‘Drop The Pressure’ and ‘Destroy Rock and Roll’. Also appearing on The Summer Stage will be London duo The Correspondents, who will enthral crowds with their eclectic fusion of jazz, hip hop and electronic music.
