The Coachella line-up never fails to disappoint and this time around Frank Ocean, Blackpink, and Bad Bunny have been revealed as headliners for the 2023 festival.
Celebrities and revellers alike will flock to Southern Californian desert for the showstopping event, which is due to return this year over two weekends – April 14-16 and April 21-23.
Bad Bunny, who hails from Puerto Rico, is set to headline both Fridays, with South Korean girl group Blackpink performing on the Saturdays, while US singer-songwriter Frank Ocean will take the Sunday slots.
Bad Bunny is one of the world’s most popular artists and in 2022, he earned as much as $435.38 million from his ‘World’s Hottest Tour’.
It’s no doubt a welcomed announcement from Ocean fans given that he was previously due to headline the festival in 2020, but the event never came to fruition due to the Covid pandemic.
The 28-year-old rap star actually surpassed the previous record, which was set by Ed Sheeran for his ‘Divide’ tour in 2018, when he earned $432.3 million.
Bad Bunny – whose real name is Benito Ocasio – also became the most streamed artist on Spotify for the third year in a row. In 2022 alone, his music was actually streamed more than 18.5 billion times.
Also included in the Friday line-up are Gorillaz, Burna Boy, Blondie, Yungblud, Mercury prize nominees Wet Leg, and actor Idris Elba.
Saturday’s line-up features Spanish singer Rosalia, Charlie XCX, Labrinth and Mura Masa among others.
On Sunday, there will be performances from the likes of Jai Paul, Bjork, Dominic Fike, Willow, and fellow Mercury prize nominee Joy Crookes.
DJ Calvin Harris has also been announced to be returning to the desert.
Presale ticket sales begin on Friday, January 13, with organisers saying there were ‘very limited’ passes remaining for the festival’s first weekend.)
It has been suggested that fans look at the second weekend if they want to bag themselves tickets.
Last year’s festival, which takes place in the Indio desert near Palm Springs, was fronted by Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd.
US rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, was due to headline the Sunday slot but the line-up was updated weeks before the event.
During Styles’ set he surprised fans by bringing on Canadian country music star Shania Twain on one weekend as a special guest and US pop star Lizzo the following week.
The festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the event returned last year, when the likes of Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia all performed.
Organizers of the 2023 edition have confirmed that it will be staged over two weekends, starting on April 14.
