Ed Sheeran Holds Onto No. 1 on U.K. Chart with ‘Bad habits’

Ed Sheeran has extended his streak at the top the Official UK Singles Chart with a 7th week with “Bad Habits” (Asylum), while The Weeknd enjoys the highest debut on the fresh frame.

“Bad Habits” is the most-streamed and downloaded song during the chart week, to give Sheeran his longest-reigning U.K. No. 1 single since 2019, when “I Don’t Care,” his collaboration with Justin Bieber, ruled for eight consecutive cycles.

Meanwhile, the title track to Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever (Interscope) album lifts 6-4, for her sixth Top 5 single.

The week’s highest new entry belongs to The Weeknd, whose “Take My Breath” is new at No. 13 (Republic Records/XO) for the Canadian artist’s 18th Top 20 hit in the U.K.

Also new to the chart is KSI and Lil Wayne’s “Lose” (BMG), arriving at No. 18, while Olivia Rodrigo snags her seventh Top 40 appearance with Sour track “Jealousy Jealousy” (Geffen), new at No. 36.

Over on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, Dave returns to the summit with We’re All Alone In This Together (Dave Neighbourhood), up 2-1, and swapping places with Eilish’s sophomore album.

The highest new entry in the current cycle is Will Young‘s covers set Crying On The Bathroom Floor (Cooking Vinyl), new at No. 3. It’s the former Pop Idol’s eighth consecutive Top 3 studio album.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour dips 3-4, but remains the market’s most-streamed album, while Barbra Streisand’s Release Me 2 (Sony Music CG) compilation is new at No. 5, for the legendary singer’s 15th Top 10 album.

A pair of British greats are close behind. George Harrison’s former leader All Things Must Pass (Apple Corps) blasts in at No. 6, following the release of its 50th anniversary edition. All things Must Pass is the U.K.’s best-selling album on wax this week.

Finally, Brian May’s 1992 solo effort Back To The Light (UMC/Virgin) makes a chart splash following a remastered release. Its No. 7 return eclipses its original No. 19 peak.
