Popular online streaming service Spotify has confirmed its Top 10 Most Influential Artists Under 25 today and the list includes some of the biggest names in pop music.
As expected the West Yorkshire born singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran topped the list at No.1, but he was closely followed by US ‘Problem’ songstress Ariana Grande.
‘Stay With Me’ grammy award winning hitmaker Sam Smith, Miley Cyrus and ‘Worth It’ beauties Fifth Harmony round off the list at No.10 and boyband One Direction are also featured at No.5.
Spotify considered a variety of factors when creating the list, including number one singles, volume of streams and overall performance on Spotify’s viral chart. Interestingly, streaming of One Direction’s back catalogue increased by a phenomenal 796% when Zayn Malik quit the band back in March.
Fifth Harmony, meanwhile, recently won an array of titles at the Teen Choice Awards, including Choice Summer Jam for ‘Worth It,’ Choice Music Female Hottie and Choice Music Group: Female. Ed Sheeran also scored at the ceremony and won the Choice Male Artist, Choice Male Summer Music Star and Choice Song: Male Artist (for ‘Thinking Out Loud’) prizes.
Spotify’s Top 10 most influential artists under the age of 25 are as follows:
Ed Sheeran
Ariana Grande
Sam Smith
Miley Cyrus
One Direction
Disclosure
Selena Gomez
Rae Sremmurd
Demi Lovato
Fifth Harmony
