Barlow said he wanted to reunite the five-piece band to produce new work – but that a final decision is due in January.

“We will all see each other in January and find out for certain then.”

Speaking to the Sun, the celebrated singer-song writer described the Take That boys as being like “brothers.”

He said: “I’m hoping for five, that would be the best and then a big, big tour.

“We’re brothers. When we’re back in together in a room, it’s the same as it’s always been.”

Reported tax-avoider Barlow is about to release his latest solo album Since I Saw You Last which comes out on Monday.

Take That were formed in 1990 as a five-piece group consisting of Barlow, Williams, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald.

They split in 1996 before reforming in 2005 without Williams. The group have had 11 number one singles in the UK and seven number 1 album

Simon Cowell has suggested that he may replace Barlow as head judge on The X Factor in the UK when the Take That man returns to his band duty in 2014. With both Barlow and Louis Walsh set to depart the reality show, Cowell is rumoured to be bringing Cheryl Cole and Rita Ora with him to the panel.
