Girls aloud biography – songs and tours

Girls Aloud is a British girl group that formed in 2002, through the reality television show Popstars: The Rivals. The group consisted of Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh. Girls Aloud released 20 singles and five studio albums during their time together.

Their debut single “Sound of the Underground” was a number one hit in the UK and their 2003 album of the same name was certified platinum. They achieved a string of successful singles and albums throughout the mid-2000s and have received numerous awards, including five Brit Awards and four Ivor Novello Awards. The group took a hiatus in 2009 and officially announced their split in 2013.

They also released several successful albums, including “Sound of the Underground” (2003), “What Will the Neighbours Say?” (2004), “Chemistry” (2005), “Tangled Up” (2007) and “Out of Control” (2008) which all reached the top 5 of the UK Albums Chart.

Girls Aloud Tours

Girls Aloud embarked on several tours throughout their career. Some of their notable tours include:

  • “The Sound of Girls Aloud” Tour (2004) – This was their first headlining tour and it took place in the UK, in support of their debut album “Sound of the Underground”.
  • “What Will the Neighbours Say?” Tour (2005) – This tour also took place in the UK and was in support of their second album “What Will the Neighbours Say?”.
  • “Chemistry Tour” (2006) – This tour was in support of their third album “Chemistry” and visited the UK and Ireland.
  • “The Tangled Up Tour” (2008) – This tour was in support of their fourth album “Tangled Up” and visited the UK and Ireland.
  • “Out of Control Tour” (2009) – This tour was in support of their fifth album “Out of Control” and visited the UK and Ireland.
  • “Ten: The Hits Tour” (2013) – This was the group’s final tour before their hiatus, it was a greatest hits tour and visited the UK and Ireland.

The group also performed several one off shows, such as at festivals, charity events and other events.

Girls Aloud have raised over £1,000,000 for breast cancer charities following Sarah Harding’s death in Sept 2021.
