John Legend on Kelly Clarkson duet: ‘She’s one of the best singers in the business’
John Legend has recorded a two part harmony with Kelly Clarkson called ‘Run’, which is on her most recent collection ‘Piece By Piece’, and talked about what a delight it was to get into the studio with her.
The genius disclosed that he needed to work with her on the grounds that she’s such a fabulous vocalist and he was fast to say yes to the coordinated effort when she asked him:
“Kelly’s one of the best vocalists in the business, I think. When she connected with me, I thought it was a simple choice. I thought the melody was incredible and it’d be extraordinary to rejoin with my old companion from Duets.”
Legend went onto include that there aren’t numerous individuals left for him to work together with now: “I’m recently centered around attempting to make incredible music and at whatever point the coordinated efforts come, they come, yet I don’t concentrate on who I need to work with next. It’s ordinarily about simply attempting to make incredible music.”
Sam Smith and John Legend have topped the UK singles chart for a second week with their duet Lay Me Down last Sunday.
Their version of Smith’s hit – recorded as this year’s official Comic Relief song – held off Years & Years’ track King by 9,000 combined chart sales.
Smith’s original album rendition was at number 19 after 45 weeks on the chart.
But the singer was knocked off the top of the album chart by rapper Kendrick Lamar, who scored his first UK number one with To Pimp a Butterfly.
Last week it was revealed the album had set a new record on Spotify after it had been streamed 9.6 million times worldwide in one day.
