He made the eyebrow-raising admission during a radio interview yesterday.
Whilst reps from his team said that the singer was merely jesting, Bieber also said in the interview that he wants to “take a step out” to allow his music to mature and to grow as an artist.
His next record comes in the shape of ‘Journals’, which will be released on Monday (December 23).
Bieber added in the interview: “People think I’m arrogant, I’m not, I’ve always been a caring and giving person. I’m here solely for my fans and for the music.”
The 19-year-old meanwhile is due to release his new film Believe on Christmas Day in the US and a day later in the UK.
It caps off a profitable few months for the Canadian, who has released a new track every week in the lead up to Christmas as part of his Music Mondays project. Those songs will then feature on the ‘Journals’ collection.
