One Direction have had more control over their new album and say it will be edgier than Midnight Memories.
The lads have been writing tracks in between touring and the album is expected to be released later this year.
Niall Horan told the Today show: “I think it’s going to be a little bit more edgy.
“We feel like we’ve got some really good songs on it, and we’re happy.”
Liam Payne added that they have been more involved in this album.
He said: “We’ve all taken a hand in the writing this time. We’ve literally written almost every song.”

The boyband have a hard act to follow as their 2013 Midnight Memories’ went straight to number one in UK and US.
Despite only going for sale five weeks before the end of the year, Midnight Memories was the biggest selling album on 2013.
