Simon Cowell has voiced his worries over the fate of One Direction.
The X Factor judge who set up the rally and marked them to his Syco name addresses The about his reasons for alarm over the band keeping on living up to expectations at their normal pace:
“They can’t carry on doing the amount of stuff they’ve been doing for long because they’ll burn out – it’s a high-class problem.”
Cowell included: “’But they don’t complain about working hard.”
Music journalist Mark Boardman said “The boys who I first met over 4 years ago, have been over-worked since day one”.
Last night saw One Direction appearing at France’s NRJ Awards as a quartet due Louis Tomlinson being too ill to attend.
Tomlinson tweeted: “Been sick all night. Still really unwell. Absolutely gutted!!. So sorry to let our fans down at NRJ. 🙁 sorry 🙁 hope the lads smash it”.
Notwithstanding 55-year-old Simon’s hesitations around One Direction’s present work rate he is sure that they will keep on being effective:
“They’re going to be around as long as they want to be, because they’re talented and good writers – and they understand their fans.”
One Direction will be performing ‘Where Do Broken Hearts Go’ this evening (December 14) on the last of The X Factor.
Simon Cowell – who has two candidates, Ben Haenow and Fleur East, going after the winning title – likewise talked about the ‘Take My Girl’ bunch’s contribution in the show:
“They still come down to The X Factor, into song meetings and they will text me with ideas for the contestants. They’re generous to other artists. You don’t see that very often. Most artists couldn’t give a damn about anyone but themselves!”
