Some Tips For Making Some Me Time For Moms

Being a mom might be the most fulfilling experience you will ever have, it’s a wonderful time full of love and fulfilment, but you still need to find some “me time” to stay balanced and healthy. It doesn’t matter what you are doing, or how wonderful it is, sometimes you just need to take a break! As a mom you are constantly attending to the needs of your kids, but what about your needs to from what nutrition your body needs, to rest and how to spend any spare time that you may have? All too often they are left neglected. The thing is, if you push yourself too hard, and it’s easy to do with the kind of responsibility a mom has, you are going to suffer a physical or mental breakdown that isn’t going to do you, or your kids any good! So, what to do? Here are some ideas on how you can claim a little bit of me time, mom!

The Reading Hour – If your kids are old enough to read on their own, use that to grab some me time for yourself! Establish a daily reading hour in which everyone sits down with a book and quietly reads it to themselves, you included! This is your chance to catch up on all the great articles that come in your womens weekly subscription, there are certain to be some inspiring ideas and entertainment in there! Or, grab that book you have been putting off reading, sit down and do it! Enjoy the peace and quiet while still being with your kids, the reading hour is good for everybody!

Shipshape – Moms always have work to do, not just caring for the kids, but everything else too! The cooking, the laundry, the housecleaning! If you are taking all of that on with no help be careful, because you are going to burn out! It seems like kids instinctively hate doing chores, so trying to get them to help usually ends in hard feelings and futility. The problem is chores aren’t fun, unless you make them fun! This is where the game of shipshape comes in! Kids love to pretend, so start the game by pretending you are all on a sailing ship exploring the seven seas! You will play the part of the captain, and you spy a storm coming! Oh no, we have to get this place shipshape quick or we may sink! It’s time to swab the decks! If you talk in a pirate voice and order your kids around as if they were sailors they will jump up and pitch in fast, because if those dishes aren’t washed and that laundry isn’t done, the ship will go down! Reward yourself and your able-bodied sea-kids with a treat afterwards, then put your feet up for a while!

Spa Time – You are going to need to enlist the assistance of a trusted adult for two hours, hopefully their Dad can manage it! Now, here’s the deal- Dad is going to take charge of the kids, preferably taking them out of the house altogether so you can have the run of it, or at least keeping them out of the bed and bath for you. Now, you are alone. Take a hot bath and relax! Aah…

Enjoy your me time, Mom, you’ve earned it!
