5 Luxury Mounts for Your World of Warcraft Collection

Mounts in WoW are far more than just a way to get around. Being a statement of status, prestige, and dedication, they are coveted treasures that players relentlessly hunt for, willing to pay outrageous amounts of gold — or even real money — to own.

In this article, we’ll showcase some of the game’s most luxurious mounts that will make any collector green with envy. Each of these beauties costs a small fortune, but if you’re eager to add them to your collection, WoW boosting services can be a huge help, offering guaranteed mount delivery, cheap gold packages, and tons of other boosts to enhance your WoW journey.

WoW’s Rarest and Priciest Mounts for True Collectors

Palehide Direhorn

Kicking off our list is a rare 500,000 gold dino mount sold by Talutu in Zuldazar or Tricky Nick in Tiragarde Sound, depending on your faction. This beast is all about pure brutality, with its rugged, prehistoric look being both intimidating and captivating — a true symbol of raw power.

Lightforged Warframe

This flying mount is a colossal war machine clad in gleaming golden armor that literally screams strength and elegance. Apart from the rich design, it also has very smooth flight mechanics that make it an absolute joy to navigate the skies. You can obtain this majestic mount from Vindicator Jaelaana on Argus for 500,000 gold once you hit Exalted with the Army of the Light.

Bloodfang Widow

This creepy yet incredibly elegant spider mount is sold by The Mad Merchant in Dalaran for a staggering 2 million gold. It’s extremely rare, and the real reason for that isn’t just the hefty price tag but rather the vendor who is notoriously hard to catch. The Mad Merchant shows up completely randomly, with the time between spawns ranging from a few hours to several weeks. That’s why only about 3% of players have been lucky enough to add this stunning spider to their collection.

Invincible

Unlike most mounts on this list, Invincible can actually be farmed in-game, though that doesn’t make it any less rare or prestigious. This legendary skeletal steed drops from the Lich King in the Icecrown Citadel raid, with a drop chance of about 0.8%. For those unwilling to rely on RNG, Invincible can also be bought on the Black Market Auction House (BMAH), but it only shows up a handful of times per year, and the final bids almost always hit the cap of 9,999,999 gold.

What makes Invincible especially treasured among collectors and lore enthusiasts is its deep connection to Warcraft’s story. This mount was once the beloved steed of Arthas Menethil, who was forced to mercy kill it after a tragic accident. When Arthas gained his dark powers, he resurrected his old friend and reunited with him in undeath. Owning Invincible is not just a status symbol but also a tribute to one of WoW’s most iconic and tragic characters.

Spectral Tiger

This iconic ghostly cat is a WoW Trading Card Game (TCG) mount from an incredibly rare loot card that has only a 0.002%-0.004% chance of dropping from a booster pack.

If you’re hoping to snag this mount today, your best bet would be to get Fires of Outland or TCG Archives booster boxes, usually going for around $1,000 each. Also, you have a small chance of getting it from a gift box redeemed from Landro’s Gift loot card. If you want a guaranteed mount, there’s an option to buy the loot card directly from other collectors, but be prepared to spend at least $7,000.

Fun fact: as part of WoW’s 20th Anniversary, a $265 flying Spectral Tiger was released on Chinese servers, making it the most expensive mount in the in-game store so far.

Honorable Mentions

Brutosaur

Originally added in Battle for Azeroth, Mighty Caravan Brutosaur was sold for a jaw-dropping 5 million gold. With the release of Shadowlands, it became obtainable only through the BMAH, where final bids always maxed out at the gold cap. Apart from the striking looks and a steep price tag, it’s still the only mount in WoW that carries NPCs with access to Auction House and vendor shop, which makes it both stylish and practical.

During WoW’s 20th Anniversary Event, the legendary dinosaur made a comeback with a new name and some design tweaks. Up until the event’s end on January 6, 2025, players could purchase the Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur through the in-game shop for $90. For those who missed out, the original version can still be found (with some luck and a truckload of gold) on the BMAH.

Other Notable Mounts

WoW boasts so many amazing mounts that we couldn’t resist adding a few more to our list. Here are a bunch of BMAH collectible gems, typically sold for the gold cap:

  • Swift Zulian Tiger
  • Plagued Proto-Drake
  • Golden Regal Scarab
  • Swift Razzashi Raptor
  • Ashes of Al’ar

The prices are pretty steep, but if you manage to save enough, those envious glances and the sense of prestige you earn will be well worth the effort.
