Moving to a new city was a huge decision, but here you are ready for a new chapter in your life. The move was quite hectic because you needed to get a lot of things done before flying to your new destination. But with the help of your trusty checklist, you—and your things—arrived safely in what will not be your new home city.
And with a new apartment in Life Asoke Rama 9, you’re finally excited to start a new life in a new city. There’s just one thing missing: your apartment still doesn’t feel like home. But don’t worry because you can change that by following these simple tricks:
- Think about how you’d want your space to look like.
Being in a fully furnished rental may be nice, but sometimes the layout or details may not be exactly what you’d want your home to be. While you may have limitations in what you can do to decorate or furnish your apartment, it’s also very important to lay out your space the way that would be most functional for you. For instance, moving your couch to face in a different direction or putting your bed in the middle of the room instead of being on the side can already make a huge difference to how you’ll feel about your space.
- Get some light in.
If you’re used to living in a house, then being in an apartment would be a huge adjustment. Some people may even find it claustrophobic to be in a smaller space. But if you still can’t afford to rent a house in your new city, the next best thing that you can do is to get some light into your space. Replace the lightbulbs if they feel too dim, open the windows to let natural light inside during the day and add a lamp or two for additional lighting. You’ll be surprised at how lighting can make your apartment feel bigger and cosier.
- Add things that are familiar to you.
Chances are, you brought a few of your favourite books, pillows and decor when you moved into the city. So why not make use of these things by adding them as part of your decor? Bringing things that are familiar to you would instantly make your space feel like home. Hang decor, photos and travel memorabilia around your house to get that cosy and homey ambiance that you’ve been longing for.
Finally, you have to add something alive around your space to really give it that homey vibe. If you notice, more people are loving plants around their homes because they don’t only help clean the air but also add more life and joy to even the smallest space. If it’s your first time having plants around the house, choose those that don’t require a lot of maintenance. Some people even add herbs in their kitchen to make them feel like they’re back home in their old kitchen cooking their favourite meals.
