One Direction’s Liam Payne has confessed to sending his underwear to one of his fans – after the teenage girl was caught trying to steal them from his apartment.

The knicker-thief struck while Liam and his bandmates were touring in Australia – breaking into the beachside accommodation provided to him in New South Wales before making off with a pair of his boxers shorts.

Speaking on the Jonathan Ross Show last night, Liam said: “It was a really weird, weird experience. It was quite strange.

“This girl kind of like half opened my door when I was in bed and I turned around and saw this eye peeking through. She was trying to break in.

“So I ran outside to have a look what was going on, what was the commotion about. I had these jogging bottoms on… you know when you just whack something on and run outside.”

“So I’d gone outside and realised the pants were gone because they were outside drying.”

Though the girl was apprehended and the singer’s pants returned, Liam admitted last night that he felt sorry for the enthusiastic fan and later returned the underwear to her.

“This girl had them on at the beach later and my security guard was like, ‘Those are your pants.’ I mean, I don’t know why he knew they were my pants, that’s a bit strange,” he told the chat show host.”

Laughing, he added: “They were red…I did mail them to her after.”

Liam is still dating Sophia Smith.
