SuperBowl LVII: These Are the Teams that Have Never Won A Super Bowl

Being the game that every team wants to play, the Super Bowl is the most important game of the NFL season. Considering the fact that some players have won more Super Bowls than entire franchises, today we will highlight some NFL teams that have stayed on edge and never won the Super Bowl.

Minnesota Vikings

In the 1970s, they had one of the best defenses in living memory in the NFL. However, despite their attempts, the Vikings have never been able to win the Vince Lombardi but sat on the edge in 1970, 1974, 1975, and 1977.

The last time they were close to reaching the Super Bowl again was in 2010, but unfortunately lost in overtime against the New Orleans Saints (by the score of 31-28) in the National Conference championship.

Buffalo Bills

In the 1990s, the Buffalo Bills had the opportunity of reaching four consecutive Super Bowls (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994) but failed to win the Vince Lombardi trophy in all of them.

Although they brought their A-game in the last two seasons, they reached the American Conference final but were beaten by Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs 38-24.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals had two chances to be crowned the best team in the NFL in 1982 and 1989. However, they failed both times after Joe Montana’s 49ers saw them exit the tournament on both occasions.

Despite being listed as one of the most losing teams in the league, last year, they finally had the opportunity to win Super Bowl LVI, but the Los Angeles Rams took that dream away from them, beating them 23-20.

Carolina Panthers

The coveted North Carolina team has only been able to reach the most important game of the season twice, failing on both occasions. In 2004, they lost to the New England Patriots, and in 2016, to the Denver Broncos.

After their last failed Super Bowl, they have not been able to catch a lucky break that allows them to participate in events like Super Bowl Sunday.

Atlanta Falcons

The years 1999 (against the Denver Broncos) and 2017 (against the New England Patriots) were the last that saw the Atlanta Falcons appear in a Super Bowl game.

Even in one of the greatest games of all time, the Falcons were on the verge of achieving their first Super Bowl, but in the fourth quarter, they lost their 25-point lead against the Patriots, suffering the largest comeback in Super Bowl history.

Los Angeles Chargers

The only time they could access the NFL championship game was in 1995 when they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX by a massive score of 49-26. Then, a few years ago, the Chargers moved from San Diego to Los Angeles, hoping to have some moment of glory in the NFL. Hopefully, the Chargers will get another chance to showcase their skills and give their fans the victory they have been waiting for.

Tennessee Titans

The start of the 21st century seemed glorious for the Tennessee Titans. They reached the Super Bowl in 2000 but lost it to the Rams 16-23 in a dramatic fashion – missing their latest drive by coming within a yard of sending the game to extra time.

Although they have been able to reach some play-offs, they have not been able to take that necessary step that will place them again in this game.

Arizona Cardinals

The year 2009 was the year when the Cardinals were strong contenders for the Super Bowl. But as fate would have it, the Pittsburgh Steelers crushed their hopes with a score of 23-27.

On the eve of Super Bowl L, they came close again to qualifying but didn’t make it. This was their biggest recent achievement.

Teams that Have Not Played in the Super Bowl

Of all the teams that exist in the NFL, there are four that have not played in this super event. These are:

  • Cleveland browns
  • Detroit Lions
  • Houston Texans
  • Jacksonville Jaguars

Conclusion

There you have it; these teams have yet to win the prestigious trophy despite several attempts to hoist it. Which team will lift the trophy this February? We don’t know yet, but we know it will be an exciting game.
