Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

Watching the latest trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, I’m not ashamed to say I had a few butterflies.

This game appears to be a ‘natural’ evolution of their previous titles with a metric butt tone of new features.

Some of them, it can be argued, have been borrowed from other games but with a bit of tinkering, have the potential to make this one of the best FPS this year.

Main Story Arch

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 teaser trailer depicts the development of biometrics used to help children to hear and the blind to see. But altruism starts to go out of the window when these enhancements start to be used in athletic events and before you know it advanced soldiers. War breaks out and two fractions are matched in the air, so it’s up to the ground troops to battle it out.

So, what does this mean for you? The latest addition to the Black Ops franchise has even more customisation and you don’t have to do this alone!!! We all know our typical load out: primary and secondary weapons, tactical and lethal grenades, and our perks.

Add to this Cyber cores, one of the new features that give you extra abilities; from controlling drones to setting fire to enemies with a swam of flies, and you will have your own individual ways to play. Other customisations allow you to play as female characters for the first time, probably not one of the biggest things you will have read today but at least Black Ops 3 is getting with the times!

One of Call of Duty’s downfalls is lack of a gripping Solo campaign. So, to get people back into it, they have opened up the main storyline for you and your friends. Time and time again this ability to enjoy a game with a friend has brought me back to games like Resident Evil, but adding this to personalisation of characters will sum up to be a strategic play of bait and over-watch!

Treyarch are hoping that this diverse way to play will increase the replay ability and make it a little different each time you go through.

If all of this wasn’t enough enter our specialists. So far only 4 have been announced but each have their own ability: one has brutal hand to hand combat and AOE, the second reverses time a few second and has hidden a mini-gun, another is a gunslinger with kickass magnum and speeds up kill streak rewards faster and 4th so far can identify enemies positions and has a bow. Yes a friggin’ bow ladies and gentleman!

Multiplayer

Most of those playing any Call of Duty, game will be found on the multiplayer servers and this is where most of the new mechanics can change the tide of battle. So far these include: boost jump, wall run, knee slides and under water shoot outs. Watching game play it looks like they all fit rather well and can be used when you choose but how fluid they really are might be a game changer.

For me I found some of the new mechanics too chaotic while playing Ghost, it has one of my worst KDR, I really hope that these new mechanic doesn’t have the same effect.

Zombies

One of the greatest additions Treyarch added to Call of Duty was Zombies.

Everyone loved it and it was one of the reasons I started to really get into the franchise. In the initial talks, back in February by David Vonderhaar from Treyarch, he suggested his presentation contained over 30 hints about the new

Zombies game mode. Treyarch have said they have given Zombies its own XP system and back-story. If you listen to the hypes there are a few theories involve the previous character and maps. Not much else has been released but watch this space, I think Treyarch are going to make something big go down here.

The gaps between each Call of Duty game releases are getting bigger, I hope this is because the games are getting bigger and better. To sum up Black Ops 3, to the world we all know of FPS we have new tech, new mechanics and a friggin’ bow! More playable options, more time with friends and more zombies.

With all these new elements I hope that this game is going to take Call of Duty out of the stereotypical shoot-‘em-ups that they have fallen into previously. This will allow old players to come back and rack up the hours and kills while new players can experience the game in a completely different way.
