The channel previously revealed a host of other changes with plans for biggest series yet in 2014, which will conclude with a week of ‘super-sized’ live finals – each with an audience of 6,000 people.

“Got To Dance always comes back and we always try to change things up,” Ashley said this week.

He told DigitalSpy: “We always try to add something new. In the past we had new cameras and new judges, and we were also the first people to take the final event to a big arena venue.

“Got To Dance always leads the way when it comes to big talent shows. Even though it’s slightly smaller as a show, it’s always ahead of the game in how it’s produced and the way we do things. I think we’re going to come back with some really nice surprises in 2014.”

It was confirmed in November of last year that Davina McCall will also be back as its presenter, following speculation that she had quit.

Davina said: “The joy of dance is completely infectious and I was bitten by that bug long ago. Each year I learn something new. Last year it was krumping – whatever next?!

“I couldn’t be happier to be returning to Got To Dance and I can’t wait to meet more dancers ready to take on the challenge. Lets get to twerk… I mean work!”
