CBB’s Evander Holyfield warned about homophobic views

Evander Holyfield has been warned for expressing homophobic views on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.

The five-time world heavyweight champion boxer was asked by contestant Luisa Zissman whether any pugilists had come out the closet, but his controversial view then led to him being warned by the Channel 5 show’s producers.

Evander – who is handcuffed to Luisa for one of the programme’s challenges – said: ”All I’m trying to say, you know handicap people are born, you can’t say because they are born that way you can’t fix them.”

Luisa told the born-again Christian she didn’t think the two things were comparable, but he maintained his view.

He said: ”Yes it is a choice. C’mon, how can you not say you ain’t gay unless you sleeping with the opposite sex?”

Evander was then summoned to the Diary Room where he was uncuffed from his partner and told his offensive comments would not be tolerated.

Attempting to defend himself, he said: ”It is not like I would mention it to anyone else, it was just our conversation.”

He was then let back onto the show, but handed an official warning.

The rest of the housemates’ reaction to Evander’s views have yet to be broadcast.
