So for those of you who love Game of Thrones, you will know that season five of the grim fantasy epic ended on a pretty major cliffhanger, right?
The official twitter account for the massively popular series revealed when eager fans will be put out of their misery by announcing the premiere date for season six.
The tweet simply reads “4.24.16 #GoTSeason6” meaning that we have over four months to wait before we see what is going to happen next in the violent world of Westeros.
The news comes days after author George RR. Martin revealed that he would not be finished with the next installment of the book series the huge show is based on by the time season six shows up. Martin wrote a lenghty blog post in which he let readers know that The Winds of Winter (the sixth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series) wouldn’t be completed ahead of season six meaning that the show will reveal certain plot points first.
HBO Near Deal for ‘Game of Thrones’ Seasons 7 and 8 though HBO is doubling down on Game of Thrones.
A formal announcement is expected to come soon as the premium cable network looks to the future of its Emmy-winning fantasy drama. No word yet on if that will mark the end of the series.
HBO programming president Michael Lombardo told a handful of reporters Thursday at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour that the premium cable network is near a deal for another two-season renewal for the fantasy drama based on the books by George R.R. Martin.
The renewal would be for seasons seven and eight — marking the second time that Game of Thrones has scored the dual order. The cabler last renewed the Emmy-winning drama for seasons five and six in 2014.
The news comes hours after HBO announced an April 24 return date for its sixth season.
