Gary Barlow has admitted that he will be watching this year’s X Factor even though he is not a judge.

The Take That star was on the panel for three years but decided to quit to concentrate on his music career.

Gary is on a nationwide solo tour and also writing songs for a new Take That album with his bandmates.

The album is due to be released later this year and the group are planning to tour in 2015.

Speaking on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man, Barlow said he would be watching The X Factor: “I think its fun to watch, we all love it really.

“We say we hate it but we love it.”

Asked if Simon and Cheryl would help The X Factor win the rating battle with Strictly Come Dancing, Gary replied: “Everyone’s always talking about it, it’s so rating driven that show.

“One week it’s down one week it’s up. You know it’s just an incredibly successful show. I think they (Simon and Cheryl) will make it more successful coming back to it.”
