Halloween TV specials in 2015

Ghosts, ghouls, witches and vampires are going to be gracing our screens for Halloween. So, what can we expect from our favourite TV programmes? Here’s a round-up of the Halloween specials planned for this year.

Eastenders

Albert Square has an hour-long Halloween special planned for us which will fall on October 30 at 7.30pm. Rumour has it that this year’s special will centre on the Mitchell family, and what better family to scare the pants off us? Last year on Halloween we saw the creepy Nick Cotton return to the square, and back in 2013 Michael Moon met his untimely demise.

So, what will we see this year? Word on the street is that Kathy Beale’s (Gillian Taylforth) estranged husband Gavin Sullivan is going to be the catalyst for some extremely scary events, following his kidnapping of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) earlier in the week. Phil is said to make it safely home after the kidnapping, only to collapse immediately afterwards and be rushed to hospital.

“We’re proud of this episode,” Executive Producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins has revealed to the BBC. “Over the years we’ve made Halloween into a thing, getting scarier and scarier -and this episode is a little bit special.”

Most Haunted

In terms of spookiness, you won’t find a show that’s more apt for Halloween viewing than Most Haunted. And this year, viewers won’t be disappointed. Rylan Clark and Jamie East will co-host this live show, which is set to feature special guests including Paul O’Grady. The show is going to be a whopping three-and-a-half hours long, with Yvette Fielding bringing us on a ghostly journey to somewhere haunted by “one of the most violent poltergeists in the world”. Expect live feeds online and lots of social media buzz. The show will air at 9pm on October 31 on Really. Those who have their own poltergeist issues may not be able to call the Most Haunted team, but you could reach the spirit world with a medium reading from a service like TheCircle to get some answers. What better night than Halloween to try it out?

Strictly Come Dancing

If you like your Halloween viewing on the tamer side, then this year’s Halloween week Strictly Come Dancing should float your boat. Expect lots of macabre costumes and ghoulish make up to mark the occasion. Amongst the treats in store are Scott and Joanne’s foxtrot to the Addams Family theme tune, and Alison and Aljaz’s American Smooth which will be performed to Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights.

X Factor

With nothing announced yet for X Factor, we have to turn to previous Halloween specials to predict what this year’s show will be like, and the outlook is good. Remember last year’s Fleur East taking on Michael Jackson’s thriller? That is going to be a hard act to follow, but we’re sure at least one of this year’s contestants is going to try. And secretly, we can’t wait.

So, what will you be watching on Halloween night, and which of these shows takes your
