When we heard about the the hit sitcom as set to return for a one-off Christmas special it wasn’t long til the news was trending in the UK.
Now Mr Corden says the show will be a ‘nostalgic joy-bomb’ admitting “We owed it to the characters”.
The show features a cast including Rob Brydon, Larry Lamb, Melanie Walters and Alison Steadman.
James added: “We wanted to see if there was something there, and for a while we weren’t sure.
“Then, once there was, my feeling was, life’s too short. Fear is the absolute reason to do it.”
The co-creater alongside Ruth Jones said “We just want the new show to be a nostalgic joy-bomb.”
Corden and Jones say “bringing the characters back has been a joy” and that feels like a good sign. After all, it’s joy, not alcohol, that’s really at the heart of Gavin & Stacey.
Gavin & Stacey aired from 2007 to 2010 with the final episode being watched by 10.2m viewers.
The new episode returns to BBC1 for a one-off special this Christmas
