X Factor singer Jay James is topping this weekend’s X Factor 2014 download rankings.
The X Factor’s Jay James has brushed off Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s criticisms explaining that he is not a “massive fan” of comparing himself to other artists,
James also revealed that he was “really chuffed” with his performance because he had struggled in rehearsals.
“I wasn’t too keen on the song, so I couldn’t really get the lyrics in my head,” he said. “And before rehearsals early on today, they kept on slipping. So to get on stage and nail the lyrics and get them right, I was chuffed.”
The cheeky singer hinted that several of last night’s performances were all pretty awful, resulting in only five of the final eleven’s tracks have cracked the Top 100 on iTunes.
While other weeks have seen tracks go as high as the top ten, this weekend it’s Jay James’ Mad World cover that’s done the best but by only getting as far as Number 40.
The groups are doing well with Only The Young’s Monster Mash at Number 49 and Stereo Kicks’ Everybody cover is at Number 57, while Ben Haenow’s Highway To Hell is at Number 70.
Lauren Platt, who to date has seen all of her performances enter the Top 40, is down at Number 80 with her latest track, Katy Perry’s Dark Horse.
At the time of writing not a single other X Factor performance – either from this week or previous live shows – are in the Top 100 downloads.
Meanwhile, X Factor judge Cheryl and her new track I Don’t Care is at Number 2 after just 12 hours on sale.
The X Factor 2014 continues tonight with the usual results show from 8pm, featuring performances from John Legend and Cheryl.
