Jeremy Clarkson James May and Richard Hammond talk The Grand Tour Seamen

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond take to some rough waters in separate boats in Vietnam, which Richard describes as ‘the worst thing I’ve ever done’.

As James returns from the horror trip at the end of the episode he explains they were ‘very worried’ about what had happened to him. Helping the presenter out of his boat James says he was ‘staggered that it’s still there’, and Jeremy responds: ‘But we survived. And on that terrible disappointment…for Top Gear…it’s time to say goodbye. We’ll be back. See you very soon.’

The trio used to front Top Gear until 2015 when Jeremy was sacked after a ‘fracas’ involving producer Oisin Tymon. James and Richard also decided to leave with him, and together they joined Amazon Prime. Jeremy has said in the past that he won’t watch the current series of the BBC show, which is now hosted by Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris.

Jezza said: ‘I wish them all the very best but I don’t watch it,’ he stressed at the recent launch of season four. ‘It was my baby and then it got taken away and they’ve got it now. ‘It’s like it you’ve got a baby and it’s put up for adoption you hope the baby’s brought up very well.’

Richard said of the show this week: “Producing Seamen was hard, rigorous and tough”. He credits the team for travelling and production ading the work behind the scenes was incredible.

In the special, Jeremy, James and Richard head out on a 800km journey through Vietnam and Cambodia that begins Tonlé Sap Lake.

During their trip, the trio have to weave their way through a series of challenges and unexpected mishaps as they make their way to the Mekong Delta.

To go on this epic adventure, Jeremy heads out on a Vietnam-era PBR (Patrol Boat River), which most famously appeared in Apocalypse Now.

And Richard is set to channel his inner Don Johnson by setting off on a Miami Vice style speedboat, while James will head out on a classic 1939 wooden river cruiser.

The Grand Tour Presents: Seamen will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, December 13th, 2019
