Mel B set to sign X Factor £1 million deal

Mel B is reportedly set to sign a huge £1 million deal to join The X Factor 2014.

The Spice Girl, who previously appeared as a guest judge on the series, has been in talks over pay with bosses not too keen on the big fee.

X Factor judges 2014: Mel B set to sign £1 million deal
According to the Daily Star, show chiefs wanted to cap the expense of any new judge at £900,000 after Cheryl Cole’s return alone cost them £1.5 million.

But what Simon Cowell wants he gets, with an insider claiming: “It’s pretty much a done deal. And Simon thinks Mel will be perfect for the show.

“Fine details such as her expenses budget and filming dates need to be agreed. Other than that, she’s ready to go.”

Mel B has been one of the few X Factor judging rumours that Simon hasn’t dismissed, saying previously that he loved the singer’s attitude to the show.

“He’s been in discussions with lots of potential judges but he believes Mel is by far the best choice,” the insider continued. “She’s like the female version of him.

“Opinionated, confident, ruthless and competitive.

“People will either love her or love to hate her.”

The tabloid goes on to suggest that X Factor boss Simon hopes Mel will work well alongside the quieter Cheryl.

“Simon wants someone who will get people talking,” they declared. “Cheryl may be the nation’s sweetheart but she is a bit too careful about what she says.

“Mel won’t care, so she’s perfect.”

A spokesperson for the show said no official decisions had yet been made.

The X Factor will air on ITV this autumn.
