X Factor chief Simon Cowell has spoken out once again about TV clashes as Strictly Come Dancing are scheduled head to head.
Strictly announced on Wednesday that it would launch next month on Sunday 7th September head to head with The X Factor.
It’s the first time Strictly has kicked off on a Sunday evening and in a much later time slot than usual as it faces off against the ITV series at 8PM.
Simon complained: I always think that when people do that, the people they are p** off are the viewers, they say that this isn’t a ratings battle. It is. That’s why they did it. They didn’t have to put it on at the same time as us. But they did.
“The reality is they did what they did to compete against us because they want to damage the show.”
X FACTOR ACTS WE KNOW!
Concept are a 5 piece band from Basingstoke and we have supported them from the start back in 2011; having attended many of their gigs, we have featured them many times on our site, facebook and twitter accounts.
Scott, Karim, Nathan, Matt and Ben are the best group we have seen in years.
Harvey is a young singer we featured on our site lsat year, he is very likeable and incredidbly talented.
Overload are a four piece band and MarkMeets were the very first people to ever interview them!
Other acts we have met over the years who are on the series this year are Ebony Day, Mila Falls to name but a few!
Speaking at the X Factor press launch earlier this week, the music mogul went on: “It means that people then have to make a choice whereas before it was more of a gentleman’s type agreement.
“It just shows, as far as I’m concerned, this is me personally speaking, it shows the producers of the show for what they are.
“They don’t want this show to do well, they don’t want people to watch it and our job is to do the best job we can so people prefer X Factor to them.”
A spokesperson for the BBC insisted that they had no choice but to go head to head with the X Factor next month.
They explained: “We always try to avoid direct clashes but it’s important that Strictly launches in prime time and with the extra episode of Coronation Street coming in, it’s unfortunately left us with very little room to move on this occasion.”
