Where is Strictly Come Dancing series filmed? and how to get audience tickets

The popularity of Strictly Come Dancing has been spectacular to say the least

The Strictly dancefloor is an iconic sight on British TV, as is the Glitterball Trophy that the competitors are all hoping they’ll win by the time the end of the competition comes around.

But do you know where the programme is actually filmed, rather than simply appearing like magic every Saturday evening on BBC One?

Here’s what you need to know.

Where is Strictly Come Dancing filmed?

Strictly Come Dancing is now filmed at Elstree Studios, which is located in Borehamwood, London.

However, that isn’t where the show has always taken place. Strictly moved over to Elstree Studios in 2013, having previously been filmed at BBC Television Studio from the first season, which premiered in 2004.

In the first two series of the show, episodes were also filmed at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.

Wembley Arena also hosted the show in 2011 and 2012, while of course, the opportunity to perform at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool has now become a coveted opportunity for the contestants (except when doing so couldn’t happen amid Covid-19 restrictions).

When is the Strictly results show?

The results show for Strictly is shown on Sundays, with this week’s airing from 7.15pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The main show is on Saturday.

Strictly Come Dancing audience tickets

Just like previous years, tickets for Strictly Come Dancing are allocated through a random draw via the BBC website. While the applications have closed for most of the live shows, registration for the one-off Blackpool special is now open until mid- November. You can always apply to be in the audience at Elstree Studios for the live recording of BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2022.
