The first of this series X Factor auditions were held in Manchester yesterday at the Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground.

Louis Walsh took swipe at Cheryl Cole!

It was an awkward day on set for the first X Factor 2014 auditions yesterday.

And it was the beef between Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh that caused it all, starting with her refusal to sit next to the Irish music mogul!

“A lot of thought has gone into the seating after Cheryl said she wouldn’t sit next to Louis,” an insider revealed to The Sun newspaper. “The pair have a lot of beef from the days of Girls Aloud.

“It means Mel has to sit between them — giving Cheryl the key spot next to Simon.

But even with Mel B splitting the pair, Louis was vocal about his rivalry with Cheryl, saying: “She doesn’t like the fact that I put her in her place. I keep reminding her that she came from Popstars: The Rivals.”

Louis added: “Cheryl wasn’t always this beautifully manicured and styled pop star. She would like to sweep that under the carpet but I won’t let that happen.

“She is fine, she looks great and Simon wants her on the show and what Simon wants, Simon gets.”

After this week’s try outs in Manchester, the judges will continue on to the remaining three audition stops this year in London, Newcastle and Edinburgh.

The X Factor will air on ITV later this year.
