X Factor to air three nights a week

The X Factor 2014 is set to air three nights a week later this month in yet another head to head clash with Strictly Come Dancing.

The bootcamp and judges’ houses episodes will go out all over one week on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

And it just happens to be the same week that the Strictly Come Dancing live shows begin, on the Friday and the Saturday as always, which will probably result in another face off.

The two shows battled on Sunday night as Strictly aired its launch episode head to head with The X Factor’s final room auditions, beating the ITV show in the ratings by almost a million viewers.

X Factor Simon Cowell admitted on Twitter that “round one” had gone to the Beeb.

According to the Daily Mirror, ITV have had ‘no choice’ but to air an extra show on Friday this year because of a hectic Sunday schedule.

“The plan to strip Boot Camp and Judges Houses across three nights has been in place for some time and before we saw the Strictly launch night plans,” a source said, seeming to ignore the fact that Strictly usually launches on a Friday and Saturday.

They went on: “Boot Camp and Judges Houses are always longer shows, and this year we don’t have the space to accommodate a long show on Sundays for these stages, so we have decided instead to strip the shows across three nights.”

It means that the X Factor live shows would start on the first week of October on Saturday the 4th.

However the final schedules are not confirmed just yet, meaning a last minute change could be made to either The X Factor or Strictly.

The official schedules will be published tomorrow afternoon.

But what we do know is that for now, The X Factor continues this Saturday and Sunday on ITV with the first of the Arena auditions.
