Big Night of Musicals back in February 2023

Massive free arena event The Big Night of Musicals is coming back next month

Celebrating all things stagey, the event will see performances from hit productions that are visiting venues across the nation.

The full line-up is to be announced, but 13 musicals will perform at the show, including We Will Rock You, Disney’s Newsies, Wicked, Matilda The Musical, SIX the Musical, Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations, and The King and I.

Special guest stars at the event will include Michael Ball, who will sing from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love – which he is starring in at the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End from 12 May.

The host for the night will once again be actor and comedian Jason Manford who said “Moments like this come in waves: every four or five years, someone from a TV channel goes to see a stage show and thinks ‘blimey, we should put those guys on the telly!’ Like it’s some sort of surprise…What’s important to realise is that theatre is for everyone.

“The musicals featured in the Big Night aren’t just the big West End productions, it’s also touring shows, productions that have originated outside of London and absolutely smashed it. While yes, there are some premium ticket prices, producers are also setting prices at £13 and £15.”

Host Jason Manford said in a press statement: ‘I’m thrilled to be back hosting again this year! It was incredible to see so many amazing shows under one roof last year and with 13 completely different shows set to perform this year, it’s guaranteed to be another cracker of a night!”

Last year the show also aired on BBC One – but there’s no news yet on if the 2023 event will be televised.

The show will play Manchester’s AO Arena on 27 February 2023 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are free – and can be secured from 10am tomorrow, 26 January 2023 There is a £2 booking fee per ticket, and the 12,000 tickets will be made available on a first come, first served basis via ticketmaster.
