Hit long-running West End musical Matilda The Musical is getting some new cast members at the Cambridge Theatre in London.From 12 September, Sophia Goodman is staying with the show in the starring role of Matilda, alongside new Matildas Estella Evans, Selena Karir and Arabella Stanton.

The show is also getting a new Miss Trunchbull, with Kieran Hill (A Midsummer Nights Dream and To Kill a Mockingbird – Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) joining the show to replace Elliot Harper; and Lydia White (A Christmas Carol – The Old Vic) is the new Miss Honey, as we say goodnbye to Lauren Byrne.

The current Wormwoods are staying with the show, with Rakesh Boury as Mr Wormwood and Amy Ellen Richardson as Mrs Wormwood.

Adult cast remaining in the show from the 12th September are Thea Bunting, Aaron Jenkins and Sam Lathwood, and they will be joined by new colleagues Nolan Edwards, Sean Lopeman, Ruairidh McDonald, Kane Oliver Parry, Deborah Tracey, Esme Bacalla-Hayes, Ronan Burns, Ella Caldwell, Stan Doughty, Karina Hind, Roan Pronk, Gabrielle Davina Smith, and Lauren Varnham.

The young performers joining the company in the roles of Bruce, Lavender, Amanda and the rest of the pupils are Sidhant Anand, Charlie Cox, Jack Dennis, Megan Donovan, Rosy Drury, Jake Durant, Phoebe Easom, Jaydon Eastman, Benjamin El Refaie, Jax Fenner, Max Garlick, Lilia Guinoubi, Gina Harris-Sullivan, Coco-Lili Hodder, Elliott Marsden, Sophia McAlister, Charlotte Mellington, Kanon Narumi, Toryn O’Callaghan, Zarian Marcel Obatarhe, Kristiano Ricardo, Harriet Rogers, Azalea-Belle Sharp, Archie Smith, Joshua Wahab.

And we say goodbye to Mia Atkinson, Leo Babet, Florence Burt, Poppy Caton, Zuri-Michel Charalambou, Brodie Edwards, Jude Farrant, Riotafari Gardner, Finley Harlett, Lily Hanna, Tia Isaac, Miley Kayongo, Shayla McCormack, Isabelle Mullally, Jasmine Nyenya, Raphaella Philbert, Jack Philpott, Riley Plummer, Jasmine Pottinger-Scott, Ashton Robertson, Leon Saunders, Andrei Shen-U Shen, Noah Swer-Fox, Lucia Wratten, and Kylan Denis.

Matilda has won an impressive 101 international awards since it premiered in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2010, including 24 awards for Best Musical, and been seen by over 11 million people in 90 cities worldwide.

The show is written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and developed and directed by Matthew Warchus.

The creative team of Matilda also includes design by Rob Howell, choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and special effects and illusions by Paul Kieve.

Tim Minchin and Matthew Warchus have recently teamed up again, to revive their musical version of Groundhog Day – which is currently playing at The Old Vic in London.

The RSC recently announced that Matilda The Musical is extending its run at the Cambridge Theatre, and is now booking right through to 15 December 2024.
