The hit new musical spoofs Broadway hits such as Gypsy and Mame
All-female show Ruthless! is to receive its UK premiere at the Arts theatre in March following a successful spell stateside.
The show’s 1992 off-Broadway began life starring Laura Bell Bundy as the central character and discovered young performers including Natalie Portman and Britney Spears.
Joel Paley and Marvin Laird’s spectacular, which spoofs Broadway musicals such as Gypsy and Mame, will be directed by Richard Fitch with choreography by Rebecca Howell and musical supervision by Gareth Valentine.
It tells the story of a talented 8 year-old who will do anything to play the lead in her school play. Casting for the Arts Theatre production will be announced in due course.
It is produced by Evan Sacks, Darren Bagert, Adam Mackie, Kenneth Schur and Maxine Paul, with the Menier Chocoalte Factory acting as executive producer and general manager for the London run.
Ruthless! the Musical runs at the Arts Theatre from 27 March to 23 June, with previews from 16 March and a press night on March 27.
