Stars on the stage at the West End

Stars of stage and screen head to London’s West End in 2022 in acclaimed Broadway transfers, West End revivals and World Premiere productions.

Looking for a star led musical? Soul singer Beverley Knight is starring in the world premiere production of musical The Drifters Girl, and then will star in Sister Act The Musical at the Eventim Apollo this Summer, alongside Jennifer Saunders (AbFab) as Mother Superior; Strictly star Danny Mac continues his stellar run in the musical stage adaptation of Pretty Woman; Julian Ovenden (Downton Abbey) and Gina Beck will appear in Chichester Festival’s West End transfer of South Pacific at Sadler’s Wells; and Dame Vanessa Redgrave appears in sumptuous revival of classic Broadway musical My Fair Lady at the London Coliseum.

2022 also sees West End stage runs from famous faces in Hollywood film and prestige TV. Amy Adams (Sharp Objects, Being Julia, American Hustle) will play Amanda Wingfield in Tennessee Williams’ heart-rending masterpiece The Glass Menagerie; and, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Solo: A Star Wars Story ) as Nina in a modern adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull.

Award-winner Juliet Stevenson stars in a revival of The Doctor at the Duke of York’s Theatre; Stranger Things star David Harbour and Hollywood Actor Bill Pullman appear in Mad House at the Ambassadors Theatre; Dame Maureen Lipman stars in Martin Sherman’s new play Rose at the Park Theatre; multi-award winner Mark Rylance and Mackenzie Crook (The Office) in the Tony and Olivier award winning play Jerusalem at the Apollo; and Rafe Spall stars in the Broadway transfer of Aaron Sorkin’ s acclaimed adaptation of To Kill A Mockingbird at the Gielgud Theatre.

All this plus David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch) returns to the West End later this year in a revival of GOOD at the Harold Pinter Theatre; and at Christmas, Dawn French and Julian Clary team up for annual West End panto Jack and the Beanstalk at the London Palladium.
