Kurt Russell Confirms ‘The Hateful Eight’ to Shoot Early Next Year

Back in May it was reported that Quentin Tarantino might be getting The Hateful Eight together in front of a camera much sooner than he lamented after his original screenplay leaked back in January.

It seems the live-read at LACMA in April really got him all worked up about making the film, and the last rumor we heard was that Tarantino was rewriting the script and hoping to begin production in November with the same case from the script-reading event. However, a reader called our attention to a morning interview with Kurt Russell and confirmed the film is developing.

Russell recently mentioned The Hateful Eight as one of his future projects when he said, “I’ve got a Tarantino project called The Hateful Eight that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of the year.” So it sounds like a fall shooting date couldn’t be figured out, and Tarantino is hoping to shoot early next year. Russell would be a trusted source on that information since he’s one of the leads with Samuel L. Jackson. Could he finish in time to hit theaters late in 2015?

Kurt Russell (who played bounty hunter John Ruth) was asked about what’s coming up, and the actor provided a brief but tantalizing answer: “There’s a Tarantino project called ‘The Hateful Eight’ that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of the year.”

Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, James Parks, Denis Menochet, Dana Gourrier, Zoe Bell, James Remar will star!

For those just joining us, the film was revealed to follow the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route, and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group in a saloon in the middle of nowhere. The stranded group included a competing pair of bounty hunters (Jackson and Russell), a renegade Confederate soldier (Walton Goggins), and a female prisoner (Amber Tamblyn). The rest of the cast includes Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern and more.

Stay tuned for more information on the project as it becomes available.
