Formed in London back in 2012 after being introduced by a mutual friend, Streets Made Innovators (S.M.I.) the pair instantly hit it off and went into the studio that night for a jamming session. After an eventful music session they spent more time in the studio together and really bonded over the music they were creating and the new S.M.I was born.
Previous to them meeting, Vandol had been producing on his own at the time under the name S.M.I with Carnage gigging as a session guitarist. At a time when they were both looking for the next piece of the puzzle in their music careers their paths crossed and very quickly they discovered a real natural energy in the studio.
Carnage’s love for musci was tipped towards abit of funk and rock music mixed with Vandol’s already established minimalist Grime beats, leading to their shared love of Jazz & Soul helped form S.M.I’s authentic and distinct sound as we know it today.
The single ‘MAAAD’ sees South London, grime artist, Merky Ace: who is currently signed to Dizzee Rascal’s Dirtee Stank Recordings label come into his own with a fresh and hard hitting tune on a rhythm that is sure to get fans of this genre excited.
