Ana de Armas reveals secret to accurately recreating Marilyn Monroe movie scenes for Blonde biopic

Ana de Armas revealed how she was able to recreate Marilyn Monroe scenes while promoting her film Blonde.

The 34-year-old actress while looking lovely in a long black dress with a high slit had to film every take ‘a thousand times’ to get it right. Yeah A lot of times, she said Andrew is an incredible filmmaker and also very detailed and precise and it was really important for him and me and every department to really nail these recreations,’ said Ana, referencing Blonde director Andrew Dominik, 55.

‘And, so we had two monitors. Our movie and then Marilyn’s movie and they were playing both at the same time. And, if we didn’t get it right, we had to do it again,’ Ana said.

Ana said the attention to detail was so precise that even her hairstylist got tripped up.

‘There was a moment where my hairstylist kept coming back and forth to me and the monitor to fix my hair and she was, poor thing, doing so many trips that I just go with her to the monitors,’ Ana said. ‘… And I realized that she is looking at Marilyn trying to fix my hair.’

‘So, yeah, it is a testament to, you know the incredible work that the art department and hair and makeup and wardrobe did,’ she added.

Ana shared that she was on set filming a stunt scene for her upcoming John Wick spin-off Ballerina when she learned that she had been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her work in Blonde.

‘So I’m on set and they were just like in between takes they’re changing lenses or something and my assistant comes with a phone, like, very straight faced and just gives me something to read and it was this text chain,’ Ana said.

‘And I start reading, and then I realized what I’m reading, and I scream, but of course it was a stunt scene, so everyone got very worried thinking that something was happening,’ she admitted.

‘I was like, ”No, no, no. It’s okay”,’ she said.

The Bond actress been in Prague, Czechoslavakia, filming Ballerina with Keanu Reeves, 58, who plays the titular assassin in the John Wick film franchise.

She said they still have one more month to go and realized she can’t complain about filming difficult stunt scenes because Keanu does it without complaint.

‘He truly is the best,’ Ana said of working with Keanu Reeves, shown last April in Las Vegas promoting John Wick 4

Blonde premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival in September and had a limited theatrical release before its streaming release on September 28 on Netflix.
