So as the last of Waterloo Road is being aired on TV for the last time ever we thought we would chat with the naughty but nice Max Bowden who plays Justin Fitzgerald in the show in an exclusive interview!!
Read on as we find out what was his best/worst thing about the show, who was the hardest person to work with and would we ever being seeing him on our tbs again.. here is what he had to tell us…
Well firstly so we can give our readers a bit more information about you, can you start of with you full name and age and where you live?
I’m Max Bowden, 20 years old and I live in Woking
Well we know you’ve had to be living/staying in Scotland for a while todo filming for Waterloo road, how did you get into acting? And how did you get on to Waterloo road?
I kind of fell into it really. I did amateur dramatics when I was younger and an agent approached me and said he wanted to take me on when I turned 16 (very luckily). Through that I got an audition for waterloo road and managed to bag the part!
What was it like working with the famous Waterloo road crew at such a young age? How was living away from home?
Like anything it was daunting more because it was starting a new job, but everyone was very warming and friendly towards new cast members as they were once new. Living away from home was in reality great coz we were all living together so we became like a family almost.
Who become like your mum dad brother and sister as ” Waterloo Road family ” what did you miss the most about your own home?
Neil Pearson (Waterloo Road‘s headteacher Vaughan Fitzgerald) and me struck a bond within the first two weeks and we continue to be great friends even now. Zebb who played my brother was literally like my little brother and we lived together so that was nice. Becky who plays Rhiannon became like my sister and best friend. I missed my mums food, she’s a belter of a cook.
So you love a good cook, how was the food from Waterloo road dinner hall then? Was it as bad as normal school food haha?
The food was alright you know. Jim the chef was class and his chicken kievs definitely tickled the old tastebuds.
Did you all used to help each other learn your lines? How long did it normally take to learn your lines?
We all used to help each other with lines if we knew the following day was a big one. Me and Zebb (Leo Fitszgerald On screen Brother) have a massive episode coming up and we the whole first night we got the script trying to get it nailed so when it came to it we’d smash it.
The caring side of him may end up getting him into more trouble than his rebellious side ever did.
Gotta love a good cook when you have to work hard aye! And oo anything you can tell us about this massive episode or is it all shh shh ? What has been your most challenging and easiest scene?
I can’t say too much, just that justin and Leo will come to an almost breaking point where justin has to make a huge decision that could jeopardise their relationship for good. One of the scenes in that was the most challenging. And there’s no such thing as an easy scene I don’t think.
Ooh very exciting! Could you possibly tell us when this may be aired? And haha we thought that all scene would be hard and non easy haha, how has it been going from ” naughty school boy Justin ” to “good caring boy Justin”? Will we ever see your naughty side again?
It’s the penultimate episode of waterloo road ever so three weeks from now. Well it’s weird, I don’t think justin has changed dramatically I just think he’s matured. I think he’s got to the point where he realises the decisions he makes now will make his future. I don’t think the rage of justin will ever go, he can easily get angry still and will happily back himself up whenever. The caring side of him may end up getting him into more trouble than his rebellious side ever did.
Ooh this sound exciting… So do we see Justin and kenzie get even more close or do they just stay really close friends? And we would love to see naughty Justin back and possible topless oops did we just say that.
