Movie actress Elisabeth Moss talks having to pass up role in The Power Of The Dog

Elisabeth Moss spoke about missing out on a role in The Power Of The Dog during a new interview.

During the sit-down, the 39-year-old performer discussed the missed opportunity and noted that she would have liked to taken part in the production of the much-lauded feature.

The actress did express, however, that she was happy for its cast and crew members and was looking forward to working with its director, Jane Campion, in the future.

Moss began the interview by remarking that she was regretful about not being included in the movie’s team.

The performer stated: ‘I mean, I’m not gonna lie. I wish…I could have done it. Of course.’

The star of The Handmaid’s Tale also pointed out that she and Campion had been in close contact for an extended period of time prior to the movie’s release.

‘It’s hard because I really, really wanted to do it and Jane and I talked about it for a couple of years,’ she said.

Although the performer remained regretful about the missed opportunity, she noted that she was understanding of the circumstances.

She stated that ‘[Campion] and I have been very kind to each other in that process, knowing that sometimes these things just don’t work out, and it’s not really anyone’s fault.’

Moss then expressed that the performer who filled her prospective part, Kirsten Dunst, was an ideal choice for the role of Rose Gordon.

‘I was actually so happy that Kirsten was doing it because I respect her so much as an actress,’ she said.

The performer added: ‘I think if that role had gone to somebody that I didn’t love, I don’t think I would have liked that. And obviously it’s such a beautiful film.’

The actress reiterated that she was fine with missing out on the role and stated that she wanted to collaborate with Campion in the future.

‘In the end I’m happy that it happened the way that it did, but I would say my only desperate desire is to work with Jane again,’ she said.

Moss pointed out that she had spoken with the filmmaker on numerous occasions and expressed her desire to appear in one of her films.

She recalled: ‘I’ve told her multiple times, “Just say the word. Let me know what country to be in, and I’ll be there.”‘

The Power Of The Dog was based on Thomas Savage’s novel of the same name, which was released in 1967.

The feature was centered on a pair of brothers who become conflicted about their feelings for each other when one unexpectedly brings home a new wife and her older son.

Cast members in the much-awarded feature include Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

The movie premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival, which took place last September, and it was released on Netflix in December.

The Power Of The Dog received rave reviews from critics, many of whom praised the performances of its cast, writing and direction.

The movie and its cast were put up for several Academy Awards for their work on the feature, and Campion won the distinction for Best Director.

Dunst was also nominated for the award for Best Supporting Actress, which was ultimately taken home by Ariana DeBose for her work on West Side Story.
