S Club 7 were a British popgroup consistsing of Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett.
The S Club singer made headlines in 2003 when she appeared in a daring red dress while walking the red carpet for her band’s movie Seeing Double, and now our editor Mark Boardman got to chat with Tina about her career and future music projects.
Will people be surprised by your new style of music?
I know my S-Club fan base have grown with me and it’s more of a mash-up of different types of music.
Besides William Orbit, who else are you working with on your debut album?
How did you hear that? He is much more my domain, we’ve done a track together called “All Fired up” which will be released shortly and I would love to do more with him, he is a legend. I’ve also been working with two US producers (Goodwill & MGI). My new sound will be a lot more together, if you know what I mean. My album is out March next year and i have been working so hard to get it right.

Who would you love to duet with?
I love a collaboration, this is an area I’m interested in, so who knows! Oh, I did work with Beanyman, king of Jamaica.
Who or what was your biggest inspiration for the new album?
Vocally, probably anyone with a soul background, so people like Billy Holiday, Etta James and Prince (We share our love of the pop superstar). I love Hip-Hop with a Urban Vibe.
Tell me about your plans for a tour?
Next year sometime hopefully, I’m gonna crack down on my album first, I’ve been working on some tracks and am now really involved in creating my own music. (Tina explains about her music album showcase taking place on December 3rd at Under the Bridge in Fulham).
Are you still in contact with the others from sclub7?
All of them, Hannah has been starring in a play, she is a great, great actress. Jon is in Jersey Boys (All of the cast re-united to watch Jon perform earlier in the years). Paul, Bradley and Jo are now SClub3 and Rachel off course has had her baby,
Tina, you filmed a pilot the other week for channel 4, can she tell us more about it?
Films and she asked me to come along and help for a Pilot she was shooting for Channel 4 about Celebrity Psychic reading and I was the celebrity that had a free reading and it was a good one!!!
Now, you’ve been out of the public eye for a little while, what have you been up to?
I’ve been working with various producers, writing songs. I wanted to make my own music and it’s taken a while but i am in a good place now with a solid team behind me and very happy with where I am and with the songs i have written and producing.
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
Oh (laughs), there are so many! The Smash hits poll winners party we performed (as S-Club) and I did this half hand-stand turn and my legs didn’t really move in the way I wanted and my trousers split at the crotch, so we were doing two different types of show at that point! I’m just lucky it made it on TV!
How did you spend your s club cash?
I bought my flat and invested my money to use in other projects, we were very lucky and fortunate and I made sure my finances were sorted for me to live comfortably on for the future.
If you could sum up what your doing now in less than 140 characters, what would you say?
Busy working with amazing producers and people in the industry and TV and Magazines. I am so overwhelmed for people to be still interested in me after so long and can not wait to be in the charts once again soon….
We wish the best of luck to Tina and as we are big fans and believe she’ll storm the charts!
