Celebrities Passionate About Bingo

People could be forgiven for thinking that bingo is just enjoyed by the average person. After all, the game has been around for centuries and until not so long ago it was played in church halls, with bingo halls being developed a short time later.

Furthermore, bingo is actually enjoyed by numerous celebrities too, especially since the internet took hold of the industry and transformed it into what it is today. In light of this growing love of the game by the rich and famous, we have put together a list of well known names who appreciate the pastime.

Mick Jagger is a legend of the music industry due to being a part of one of the biggest bands of all time in The Rolling Stones. Jagger, 75, isn’t someone many would suggest as a possible bingo enthusiast, but the Stones frontman certainly is. Friends and neighbours of Jagger are aware of his love for the game, especially as he has been known to throw lavish bingo parties at his Richmond home.

Mick Jagger isn’t the only rockstar who loves bingo, with Bono also said to be a huge fan. Bono is of course the frontman of mega band U2 and his love affair with bingo is said to have started back in Dublin. Bono is said to have once had a stake in Mr Pussey’s Café in the city, and when food wasn’t being served, it transformed into a bingo hall instead. Bono, a regular visitor, is said to have brought along some of his famous friends to play bingo at Mr Pussey’s, with Naomi Campbell one of those to visit.

Denise van Outen, one of the original Essex girls, has been on our screens for the best part of two decades but it was before she shot to fame that she developed a love for bingo. Film, TV and Broadway would all come calling for van Outen but prior to all this she is said to have loved playing bingo and was even reported to be seen regularly at her local bingo hall in Essex. Something you probably couldn’t imagine the current cast of The Only Way Is Essex doing.

New Zealander Russell Crowe is one of the biggest names in the film industry and for good reason. The 54 year old has starred in some of the biggest movies of all time, including the likes of Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind, but he still makes time for bingo even now. Taking a break from his notoriously hectic schedule, Crowe is believed to play bingo occasionally, with his passion for the game all started when he used to call bingo back home in New Zealand.

It should come as no surprise to find that there are plenty of celebrities who love to spend a bit of downtime playing bingo. With it being more accessible nowadays thanks to online and mobile play, it’s the perfect game in many respects, especially between shoots, while on the tour bus or when stuck in a hotel room. Bingo is a great pick up and play game that is a lot of fun and that is why it’s so popular today.
