Celebrities Who Love the Royal Family

Celebrities don’t shy away from singing the praises of the royals. Whether it’s gushing over the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, or excitedly anticipating the wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle prior to their big day, stars have royal fangirl moments too.

Many high-profile stars, including the Beckhams, Elton John, Lady Gaga, and Reese Witherspoon have been lucky enough to meet or perform with members of the British monarchy over the years. Some count the royal family as great friends and others freak out over their encounters.

Years before Emma Corrin was tapped to play Princess Diana on Netflix’s The Crown, they attended the royal wedding of Prince William and Duchess Kate in 2011.

Television host James Corden has also been open about his friendship with the royals, and Prince Harry, in particular. The Peter Rabbit star was one of the celebrities that landed a coveted invite to the Invictus Games founder’s wedding to Meghan Markle in May 2018. Reliving the event on his late-night CBS talk show, Corden called the event “a picture-perfect day. Windsor Castle, 600 guests, 30,000 flowers — or as Elton John calls it, a Thursday.”

During the Late Late Show With James Corden segment, Corden further reflected on his friendship with Archie and Lili’s dad. “I’ve known Prince Harry about seven years now, and it was wonderful,” he said at the time. “It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve ever been to … It was happy, and it was joyous, it was uplifting . . . Elton was there; he performed some songs in the afternoon.

Meghan Markle eyeing ‘high-profile projects’ after signing with talent agency

Meghan Markle has signed on with a top talent agency, WME agency (formerly the William Morris Agency), as she focuses on her creative endeavours away from the royal family.
Mark Boardman, entertainment expert and founder of MarkMeets told Newsweek in an interview that the former Suits actress has her sight set on “high-profile projects.”

“This move suggests that Meghan is again interested in pursuing new opportunities as WME is a major talent agency, they have connections and expertise in the entertainment industry that could help her secure high-profile projects,” Boardman told the outlet.

“Secondly, being represented by a top agency could increase her visibility and help her rebuild her brand in the industry,” he continued.

“It’s important to remember that Meghan had a successful career as an actress before her marriage and signing with a talent agency is a logical step for someone looking to continue or expand their career in the entertainment industry.”

The news comes two weeks after it was confirmed that Prince Harry would be attending the Coronation of King Charles as Markle remains at their California home with their two children.

According to a source cited by Us Weekly, “Meghan has been keeping her head down in Montecito, taking care of the kids and working on projects that are coming up in the months ahead.”

“It’s unclear why Prince Harry hasn’t signed also, I could expect him to follow suit,” Boardman said.

“It’s possible that he has/will and it simply hasn’t been announced yet. Alternatively, it’s possible that he has chosen to pursue different career opportunities or that he simply doesn’t want to be represented by the same agency as Meghan.”

Royals are no longer ‘untouchable force’ but William and Kate may be only hope

Ahead of King Charles’s Coronation, which will take place in a matter of days, and the event has come under scrutiny.

There was a lot of admiration for the royal family when Queen Elizabeth II was alive.“They have become the British Kardashians,” he commented, as he referenced Harry’s explosive memoir Spare.

He continued: “I actually had so much admiration for the royal family when the Queen was alive.

Harry and Meghan’s interview and Netflix docuseries ultimately “trivialised” the institution and as a result the royals have “lost their magic”.

“Now this whole ongoing situation with Harry and Meghan. I think it has diluted the specialty of the family.

Meanwhile, millions of people across the UK are gearing up to celebrate King Charles’s Coronation which will take place on May 6.

It is being held at Westminster Abbey and the King, who will be crowned along with Camilla, the Queen Consort, will be the 40th reigning monarch crowned there since 1066.

The formal celebrations will begin with a procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey.
