27 year old ‘Glee’ star Lea Michele has thanked her fans for supporting her over the last half of 2013 following the tragic and untimely death of her boyfriend and co-star, Cory Monteith.
Michele explained that she is so “grateful” to her followers for being there when she needed them:
“Wishing everyone a very happy new year… Sending much love.” she said in a tweet about the beginning of 2014
She then added: “So grateful to all of you for all your endless love and support this year…”
Her debut single, ‘Cannonball’, was written by ‘Titanium’ hitmaker Sia Furler and was released on December 10th 2013.
She also recently announced that the second single to be taken from her debut studio album, ‘Louder’, will be called ‘Battlefield’ and it was released as an instant download on December 28 when people pre-ordered her record.
The powerful ballad of a relationship on its last legs follows the release of her debut single, “Cannonball,” a mid-tempo track with lyrics of self-empowerment.
“Battlefield” puts the spotlight on Michele’s emotion-ridden vocals — an attribute of many of her top performances throughout her seasons on Glee — accompanying her haunting phrasing with minimal instrumentation. She sings in the chorus: “You and I, we have to let each other go / we keep holding on when we both know / what seemed like a good idea has turned into a battlefield.”
Like “Cannonball,” Michele’s second single was written by Sia, partnering with musician Larry Goldings. Goldings, who has worked with John Mayer, Norah Jones, James Taylor and Christina Aguilera, previously collaborated with Sia for her Colour the Small One album in 2004, as well as her 2008 release, Some People Have Real Problems.
