Why Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s Role In Saved By The Bell’s Reboot Was So Small

Peacock’s Saved By The Bell revival brought along many returning characters, but one of the most interesting was Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s return as Zack Morris. Morris is now the father of Mac Morris, his son with Tiffani Theissen’s Kelly Kapowski, and the Governor of California who only appears in a few episodes. His lack of screen time is explained in the show by his busy schedule as a governor. In actuality, the decision was due to Gosselaar’s busy acting schedule, as he was working on Fox’s The Passage and ABC’s Mixed-Ish at the same time.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar recently made a small appearance in HBO’s Barry. His relationship with NBC continues also continues, despite Peacock’s Saved By The Bell being canceled, as Gosselaar plays a role in the upcoming NBC series Found. As he has done since the end of the original series, Mark-Paul Gosselaar continues to stay busy in show business today.
