The singer consistently eschews conventional maternity clothes in favour of bolder choices, starting with the vintage pink Chanel puffer coat she wore unbuttoned with low-rise jeans to announce her pregnancy in January. Since then, she’s delivered a series of boundary-pushing outfits at Paris Fashion Week, for date nights in Los Angeles with A$AP Rocky, and at launch parties for her Fenty Beauty brand. Each look delivers a sultry and unexpected element, be it sheer material, sky-high stilettos, or a low-rise miniskirt.

Rihanna set out to avoid flats and stretchy pants while pregnant to demonstrate that expecting parents shouldn’t have to sacrifice their style. “It’s been me personally saying, I’m not going to buy maternity clothes. I’m not gonna buy maternity pants, jeans, dresses, or [do] whatever society told me to do before,” the 33-year-old makeup mogul told Bustle of her maternity style. “When I saw women dress during their pregnancy [in the past], I’d think that that was the only way. So, I challenged myself to push it further and really just have fun with [maternity style]. Because there’s nothing more fun than a challenge for me. That’s where I get creative. That’s where I’m forced to come up with new ideas and new ways to make it work.”

For one of RiRi’s latest public appearances, the 34-year-old stepped out in Santa Monica wearing a truly incredible leather look. The outfit in question consists of a teeny tiny leather mini skirt (a major spring/summer fashion trend, FYI), paired with a matching oversized jacket and a pair of thigh-high Amina Muaddi boots.

Poking out from underneath the jacket is Ri’s growing bump (cute!) and a sneak peek at her diamond Alexander Wang diamond bra. As for accessories, the star went for a pair of oversized, angular Coperni x Gentle Monster sunglasses, silver hoop earrings and a long chain-like necklace.
