Victoria Beckham says corsets are ”very sexy and feminine” and who are we to doubt the fashion icon.

The 41-year-old fashion designer wanted to find a ”new and fresh” take on the garments for her latest collection.

Former Spice Girls star made the garment a key focus of her New York Fashion Week AW16 show at the weekend because she wanted to find a ”new and fresh” take on the piece.

She said: ”I used to wear [corsets] a lot and it felt very sexy and feminine.

”I wanted to find a way to bring that back and feel new and fresh.”

In order to create a different take, Victoria removed the constricting boning, but adding the fitted basque shape to her knitwear and bodices on dresses.

Taking inspiration from her own wardrobe for her latest collection, she told the Telegraph: ”It’s an evolution of my personal style. I looked back at the clothes I’ve worn and designed and decided to rework key elements.”

Another stand-out outfit of the show was a high-waisted trouser worn with a cream satin bustier layered under a knitted black top.

Victoria said: ”It feels like a chic, modern take on red carpet.”
