Derren Brown’s Ghost Train is ride not for the faint-hearted

TV personality and Illusionist Derren Brown has warned his new theme park attraction Ghost Train is not for the faint-hearted.

Brown is launching the world’s first psychological theme park experience at Thorpe Park in Surrey.

The ride, which lasts 10-15 minutes, is described as a multi-sensory experience consisting of five key themes: grand illusion, live action, next generation technology, 4D special effects and physical transit.

Brown said: “I firmly believe that this kind of multi-sensory, mind blowing attraction represents a glimpse of what the future holds for theme parks the world over.”
He worked with more than 1,000 specialists to create the ride, which is housed in a purpose-built warehouse that is tall enough to fit three double decker buses inside it.

The ride’s centrepiece is a seven-tonne Victorian carriage suspended in mid-air by iron chains.

The ride has 12 different possible journeys and two potential endings for each passenger, so the experience will differ for everyone.

Brown said: “Akin to my shows, I ask that when you board the train, the secrets remain mine and yours to share and fear, and you don’t spoil the experience by telling others ahead of their visit.”

He insisted Ghost Train is not for the “faint-hearted”, but would not reveal much more, saying: “To ensure you are in the right frame of mind to take full advantage of the journey I will send you on, I refuse to reveal any further details past the doors of the carriage.”

The ride is due to open in the spring.
