Every person wants something different from their job
Generally, of course, we all fall into different categories. Some people want a job that pays well, some people want a job that is personally rewarding, and some people want a job that makes a difference. It’s possible for some of these desires to overlap, of course (many of us want more than one thing). Still, we all have priorities when it comes to our career aspirations. If your priority is to make a difference, then you’re never going to enjoy a job that feels insignificant. So, it might be time to say goodbye to your current career. These are some job roles for people who want to affect others positively.
Teacher.
This is the perfect job role for someone who wants to change the future. What batter way to shape the future world than to shape the minds of tomorrow? Teaching gives you the opportunity to do this. It’s rewarding on a personal level because it’ll allow you to grow as a person and it’ll keep you on your toes (you’ll have to keep learning new things). But it’s also rewarding on a selfless level because you’ll be able to help young people grow and develop too. It’s a win-win situation.
Obviously, you’ll have to get sufficient training so that you’re qualified to teach, but the hard work will be worth it if this is something that really matters to you. And, of course, it’s a career that appeals to those of many academic abilities, so this makes teaching a particularly unique profession. Whether you’re a skilled cook who wants to teach food technology or you’re a history fanatic who wants to pass on that knowledge, there’s a career path for you. That being said, you’ll have to make sure you’re sufficiently qualified in your chosen subject before you can be accepted to start teacher training. You’ll need a bachelor’s degree in a particular subject if you want to teach K-12, for instance.
Lawyer.
You might want to become a lawyer if you’re trying to help others by getting involved in the justice system. It can be a long road to success; you need a bachelor’s degree before you can even be admitted into law school. Once you’ve got your J.D. degree, you’ll need to pass your state bar examination. Still, this seemingly arduous journey will feel exhilarating if this is truly your calling. It’s an opportunity to really change the lives of others for the better. Justice is the glue that holds our society together, so lawyers are arguably the most important cogs in the machine. You might even want to check out the University of California for courses and information on virtual law practice trends. The legal industry is always changing, so even qualified lawyers have to keep learning. This is a job role that will suit anyone who wants a continuous challenge; you’ll grow as a person whilst helping others.
Writer.
If you’re a creative individual with a penchant for stringing together well-crafted sentences, then why not branch out from writing stories in your spare time? Writers can enjoy financially and mentally rewarding careers in the modern world because there are so many opportunities for the modern writer. Plenty of companies are on the lookout for talented writers to help them produce marketing copy, but there’s always the option of taking the self-employed route. As a freelance entertainment writer, you could advertise your services on sites such as Fiverr and Freelancer; you could immediately reach a large target market and start earning an income. Gaining technical skills will also improve the marketability of your writing services in the competitive digital age.
Nurse
Nursing can be an incredibly rewarding position, with many different areas to specialize in. Licensed Practical Nurses require a diploma, and these are usually completed in community colleges or technical schools. LPNs usually work in home healthcare settings, hospitals, or nursing care facilities. What’s more, with the help of the internet, nurses nowadays can equip themselves with knowledge in many areas of expertise, online and stress-free. A number of websites like offer courses in life-saving skills that will always help you stay up to date with the current trends and practices.
Other potential roles include Clinical Nurse Specialist, Mental Health Nurse, Pediatric Nurse, or Oncology Nurse. Once candidates have begun a nursing career there are lots of opportunities to develop and grow. For example, there are various Master’s degrees for nurses including the Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner or a Masters of Nursing Education Program online.
