The stars of House of the Dragon have hit the red carpet!

Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy stepped out for the premiere of their new HBO series at Leicester Square on Monday (August 15) in London, England, and joined a ton of their co-stars for the debut event.

Paddy Considine, Rhys Ifans, Sonoya Mizuno, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Emily Carey, and Milly Alcock followed the trio on the carpet.

Other stars from the show that were at the premiere included Fabien Frankel, Bill Paterson, Matthew Needham, Gavin McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Harvey Sadler, Evie Allen, Leo Hart, Eva Ossei-Gerning, Shani Smethurst and Leo Ashton.

House of the Dragon is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen. The actor, 39, cut a dapper figure in a black suit, teamed with a white shirt and black tie, while accessorising with a silver chain at the film premiere attended by MarkMeets.

The Doctor Who star seemed in high spirits at the Game Of Thrones prequel event as he wrapped an arm around his stunning mum Lynne.

Lynne couldn’t contain her smile as she wore a glamorous plunging white jumpsuit which featured feather detailing under the bust.

She styled her blonde tresses poker straight as they sat just above her shoulders as she beamed proudly next to her son.

Matt later posed alongside pal Anais Gallagher on the red carpet who looked effortlessly chic in a blush pink silk midi dress which donned a patterned corset.

The daughter of former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, 22, stunned in the off the shoulder number as she wore a radiant palette of pink makeup.

She styled her blonde tresses in loose waves and elevated her frame in a pair of chic beige sandals.

Matt, who is best known for his role as the eleventh incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who, recently switched up his television and film appearances to star in Anais’ father’s music video We’re On Our Way Now.

Noel has been on the music scene for decades, he insisted he still doesn’t like the idea of videos for his songs, saying he ‘f*****g hates’ them ‘with a passion’.

Yet on his good pal Matt’s appearance, he said: ‘One night he was round our house and as he was leaving at four in the morning I said “Ey mate you don’t fancy being in a video do you?” He said “yeah no problem”. And I sort of held him to it.’

Admitting he doesn’t really know what’s happening in the video, Noel added: ‘The second video follows on from this one, so he’s [Matt] in the next one too’.

Winter is back: Matt takes on a prominent role as Prince Daemon in House Of The Dragon, the power hungry younger brother of King Viserys and Heir presumptive to the kingdoms of Westeros

From Monday evening long awaited Game Of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon is set to unpick the fraught, fractious and undeniably incestuous lives of Daenerys Targaryen’s distant relatives.

Matt takes on a prominent role as Prince Daemon in the series, the power hungry younger brother of King Viserys and Heir presumptive to the kingdoms of Westeros.

While anticipation rapidly builds, one hopes an early thaw doesn’t put a dampener on the expectations of those still recovering from the arguably rushed climax of its predecessor – but what can we expect from the new show?

With £16million spent on each of its ten one hour episodes, one would expect rather a lot. The HBO series was created by Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin and is based on his sprawling 2018 book Fire & Blood – a comprehensive history of the House Targaryen.

Set 200 years before the bloody battle for the seven kingdoms depicted in Game of Thrones, House Of The Dragon will document the events leading up to Martin’s fictionalised War of Succession – a battle for the throne that is ominously referred to as the Dance of the Dragons.

Flying high: The Doctor Who star recently switched up his television and film appearances to star in Noel Gallagher’s music video We’re On Our Way Now

The bitter power struggle, documented in the final two chapters of Martin’s novel, serves as the connective tissue linking House Of Dragon to Game Of Thrones by drawing attention to the plight of the Targaryen clan and detailing why only two family members – Daenerys and doomed brother Viserys – survived the cull.

With eight generations separating the new show from Game Of Thrones, one can expect little else in terms of back story, and those hoping for a glimpse of ancient Lannisters and Starks may well be disappointed.

In accordance with the author’s text, it will focus solely on the origins of dragon queen Daenerys and the relatives who helped build the ultimately flawed Targaryen empire.

House Of The Dragon airs from August 22 on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK and on HBO and HBO Max in the US.

One to watch: Matt will also appear in the second High Flying Birds video that follows on from We’re On Our Way Now

The prequel series to will premiere on August 21 on HBO
